Kayaking on the Fox River - Ottawa, IL

Let's take advantage of summer weather and kayak the Fox River!

​

The Fox River is a 202-mile-long tributary of the Illinois River, flowing from southeastern Wisconsin to Ottawa, Illinois in the United States. The Wisconsin section was known as the Pishtaka River in the 19th century. There is another Fox River in Wisconsin that flows through Lake Winnebago into Green Bay.

 

We are meeting at 9:30am sharp (you need time to get ready, rent the kayak, and sign the waiver) and taking off at 10:00am from the C&M Canoe Rental place: https://www.cmcanoerental.com/

 

This is DIY type of the event, where you can bring your own kayak or rent it from the outfitter. To rent the kayak, contact C&M Reservations: 8154346690- call ahead to reserve kayaks otherwise may book up.

 

You are responsible for booking and cancelling if you can not go. We are looking at a 7 miles of kayaking that should take approximately 3h.

 

On the day of kayaking:

 

Get at 9:30am, park on grass lot above the building. After you park, sign waivers, we get on shuttle to upstream drop off. Then we paddle down back to where we parked our cars. Per C&M website, the cost is $65.00 and it includes kayak rental, paddle, life jacket, and shuttle upstream.

Please note: C&M does not accept credit cards - bring cash!

 

Skill: it usually is an easy river but need to be prepared. Need to be able to get in/out of kayak, have some knowledge or can quickly learn how to navigate. Please read the C&M rental safety checklist tips: https://www.cmcanoerental.com/rental-boat-safety/

 

Bring: dry bag, bottle of water, water shoes, hat, sunscreen, sun glasses, lite jacket, towel, extra change of clothes. Adult beverages are permitted in the kayaks (please drink responsibly).

 

After party: on-site is a fun bar/ restaurant where we can meet after for drinks / lunch!!
