MIDWEST SKI TRIP: GRANITE PEAK - Wausau, WI

Details

Join us as we return to Granite Peak – one of the biggest ski hills in the Midwest: https://www.skigranitepeak.com/

Granite Peak has 74 runs and a 700 foot vertical drop. There are acres of wide-open beginner runs. Mile-long intermediate cruising runs. Bumps, trees, and terrain parks augment plenty of beginner and intermediate terrain. There is definitely terrain for all abilities. Personally, I’m looking forward to some glades of nicely spaced trees and fresh powder.

This incredible and diverse terrain is served by the most modern lift system in the Midwest including seven new chairlifts and the Midwest’s longest high speed chairlift.

TRANSPORTATION:
This is a carpool trip; Wausau is about 4 hour drive from O’Hare. If you are comfortable with sharing a ride, please post in the comments below if you have an extra spot or need a ride.

ACCOMMODATION:
Wausau has tons of lodging, but most of us are going to stay at the La Quinta (great AAA rates of about $65/night), and near plenty of restaurants for carry out.

If you want fancier, check The Jefferson Street. If you want a water park, check the Grand Lodge. Here is a link to the Granite Peak booking site, but you will find better deals if you go directly to each hotel’s site.

LIFTS:
Use your Indy Pass! Or if you don’t have the Indy Pass, buy online in advance. The current price for a 2 day lift ticket is $148.

Granite Peak requires a waiver from everyone that skis, you can put up to 6 names on one waiver. Download waiver at:
https://www.skigranitepeak.com/liabilities_and_waivers

OTHER STUFF TO DO:
If you don’t want to ride the lifts both days, there are a couple good areas for other snow sports: XC skis, snow shoes, fat biking. There are plenty of other activities including ice skating, snow mobiles, & breweries.

SEASON PASS:
Pine Point Ski Club is doing trips to resorts on the Indy Pass this season! The Indy Pass allows passholders 2 days at each of 59 areas around North America. We are hitting 5 of these areas on our trips this year. The best thing about the Indy Pass: It only costs $229 / $219 (new member / returning member) – including Pine Point membership! If you buy your pass through us, we are also having a raffle for a free membership.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOU?
If you have the pass, you won’t have to buy lift tickets at any of the areas we hit this year. The pass pays for itself if you ski 3 or 4 days at any of the Indy Pass areas. For details on all the areas, check:
https://www.indyskipass.com/

We will be sending out a detailed daily trip agenda closer to the trip.
