Details

Autumn is Indiana Dunes' best season for hike or a scenic drive because the weather is mild, there are no crowds and the trees become a panoply of reds, oranges and yellows. Dozens of varieties of trees can be seen, including oaks, maples, walnut, sassafras, jack pine, cottonwood, tulip, sumac and pawpaw.

We will be hiking the Cowles Bog Trail:
-4.7 miles
-202 feet of elevation gain
-2% average grade
-15% maximum grade

Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather, bring comfortable shoes, water and lunch. We are going to meet at 9:30AM at the Cowles Bog North Parking Lot and take off at 9:45AM sharp. In case the North Parking Lot is full, you can park at South Parking Lot.
